Homestead Hills, a master-planned, full-service retirement community located in Winston-Salem, recently held a back-to-school fundraiser for Latham Elementary where they raised $100 in cash and lots of donated school supplies.
Cafeteria-style food was served in the Magnolia Sunroom as a pianist provided entertainment for residents and guests who were required to bring cash or school supplies to attend.
"Too often, teachers have to dip into their own earnings to provide for their students, who in many cases can go without necessary school supplies," said Homestead Hills Executive Director Pat Halsey. "The list of items that students need can be a big financial burden and we wanted to help offset some of these costs."
